Aside from the Galanthus Gala which he hosts every winter, Culp is a world renowned Hellebores expert, and has developed the Brandywine Hybrids™ hellebores variety, which originated in his garden. He is the author of A Year At Brandywine Cottage: Six Seasons of Beauty, Bounty and Blooms and is an instructor at Longwood Gardens.

We are pleased to present the twelfth annual Madoo in Manhattan garden lecture featuring Stephanie Mahon, the Editor of Gardens Illustrated magazine. Her talk based on the new book by the same title (Rizzoli, 2025) explores traditional English flower gardens and romantic new country gardens with a fresh take on the style. From small city courtyards to astounding new public parks Mahon will highlight the new generation of garden designers who are creating boundary pushing spaces that change the way we think about gardens and gardening for the future.

About the Speaker: Since 2021, Staphanie Mahon has been the Editor of Garden's Illustrated, a respected international magazine which covers the art and craft of gardening and the best of contemporary garden design. Prior to that she helmed the following titles: Garden Design Journal and the English Garden magazine. She has also written for The Telegraph, Homes & Gardens, Country Homes & Interiors, RHS The Garden, Country Living. Mahon is also the author of Wild Gardens (Pavilion Books, 2022); Practical advice guides including Grow: Pruning & Training, (DK 2021). Grow: Bulbs and Grow: Herbs, (DK2022).
